La Cabina (The Phone Box, in English) is about a phone box randomly installed in a park of a city. A man gets curious about it, and enters the box. The doors slam shut, and he finds out that he can’t open them. Upon sensing his distress, a few try to help him, but to no avail. The guy looks around helplessly, and wonders if he’ll ever be able to get out.
This one’s an oldie, but definitely a goodie. Nice use of lighting, sound, and just the right amount of filler dialogue to create an atmosphere. I still can’t process how such an everyday thing can be so… extraordinary. The creeps this one gave me will last for some time.
(This is available both with and without English subtitles. Here’s a film about a girl, a doll shop, and a seemingly ordinary day. And here’s a film about a girl bidding her grandma good night.)
